Hey there! I’m Kayra Williams, born on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Ever since I was introduced to the world of books, my life turned into a thrilling tale of love for literature. Fiction novels were my jam, and they sparked a dream in me—to be just like those authors weaving tales of real-life experiences.
I discovered my knack for creative writing early on, racking up a bunch of awards during my primary and secondary school years. Fast forward to 17, and I snagged an opportunity that would shape my future, landing a gig with one of St. Lucia’s top newspapers.
Working under the newspaper’s publisher, I found my groove in human interest and feature writing, delving into all sorts of captivating topics. My writing journey expanded from that point, to include stints with publications like SHE Caribbean Magazine, the Tropical Traveler, the St. Lucia Star Newspaper, and The Saint Lucia Voice Newspaper.
But it wasn’t just about writing for me. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped into discussions with the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council in St. Lucia. Sharing my insights and experiences, I aimed to inspire young people to nurture their creative selves, no matter life’s twists.
In 2012, I hit a milestone, becoming one of the youngest editors at a big-shot Caribbean publishing company. The next year, I packed my bags for Canada, diving into an intense news broadcasting program.
Fast forward to August 2014, and I graduated from Seneca College with a certification in radio and television broadcasting. Upon returning to the dynamic realm of media, my creative journey took an exciting turn. By 2018, I had already been immersed in the world of writing since 2006. It was during this period that I released my first nonfiction novel, “Meraki,” followed by the limited edition “Melodious,” a captivating poetry/prose compilation. Shortly after, “Better Not Fall” emerged as the inaugural novel in my fictional romance series, Mars. For more details on these titles, feel free to explore this website.
Today, only by the grace of God, I’m donning multiple hats as a travel writer, independent contributor, editor and author —all while continuing to grow in faith. I am truly grateful.
